Photos and Information about Fender Stratocaster OEM pickguards
Last Rev: 2024.04.08
My searches and information require that I know where pickguards came from, what model and what mods. But is more of a challenge when that pickguard is taken away from the Fender Stratocaster body. How do you know it’s unmodified, original or authentic?
MODSHOP
This is a great place to start.
Mod shop pickguards can have any pickups, be any color and have different wiring jobs depending on who (in Fender) made it.
Some things are typical:
- They have MODSHOP cheesy looking stickers on them.
- I think they started doing this later, I have a few mod shops and they didn’t have these stickers on them
- They can have any pickups so you might have to refer to pickup identification guide.
- They may include little PC boards.
- The use VINTAGE DISH pots
- White wires are typically used
- The “jumper” wires are like the 2000’s phone cable smaller wires with stripes on them.
- The wires to the jack are BLACK and WHITE
- They use hot irons to TYPICALLY the solder joint is a shiny blob, they do tend to always have good solder joints.
- They have a ground wire on all the pots that ground them together.
