SPANK SWITCH

The Spank Switch is a way to get the Neck and Bridge in Parallel. Not a stock Stratocaster Option.  This is used by itself or along with other Gombrelli Guitars circuit. This can also be implemented as a mini toggle or as a push pull pot.  The SPANK BLENDER is more variable these span switch can be incorporated in a number of ways, such as in position 2 or 4 when a master tone is used.

SONICALLY

It gives you the ability to warm up the bridge pickup or add some pop to the neck pickup. It also slightly changes the frequency notch and gives you a really nice classic Stratocaster sound!

If you combine it with the Dual Stratbucker or Tribucker it seriously performs well.

Wiring Arrangement (with no other switching)

  1. Bridge//Neck
  2. Bridge//Neck//Middle
  3. Middle
  4. Middle//Neck//Middle
  5. Neck//Bridge

What to Expect:

  • Slight Lowering of overall volume
  • Increase in bass for the bridge or increase in treble for the neck
  • A more classic Spank sound
  • Plays REALLY well with hotter pickups or any of Gombrelli Guitars combination circuits
  • Generally adds “punch”
  • A change of tone due to the mixing of the tones from the other pickup location.
  • When it’s on the Bridge and Neck positions sound the same if no other circuit is used.

Fine Tuning

Often a Spank Switch is fined tuned to the desired blend by using a set resistance in the spank circuit. This value is usually lower and it comparable to the actual DCR of the pickups involved.

Suggestions:

When using the TRIBUCKER or any of the STRATBUCKER circuits, apply this switch to drop the sound “into the pocket”.
