BASSTAMER™

The BASSTAMER is a passive bass roll off control that is usually “tuned” to the circuit it’s installed with and it’s rarely installed without a Stratbucker, Tribucker or  BridgeMaker.

The variable pot tends to sound like it rolls off very quick, so of lot of action happens in the first part of the turn. Part of that is our sensitivity to the treble because it has a lot more energy.

SUMMARY

  • Works best with multiple coil wiring (like Stratbucker, Tribucker, Bridgemaker
  • Takes out bass rather quick in the first part of the turn
  • May have to be adjusted when you move from Traditional to multiple coil
  • Also works with Spank Switch or Spank Blender

Full on the potentiometer effectively bypasses the control and allows the full tone to come through. As you turn it counter clock wise is reduces the amount of bass present. Affected by Frequency Crossover point.

When Used

This is used to dial in dual coil situations and also helps if the output seems to overdrive your pedals. It tightens up the bottom when in higher output.

VARIATIONS

Switchable BASSTAMER – This allows you to bypass the BassTamer without changing your setting you just had. Great if you want to go from a setting you had with Stratbuckers and you want to return to a tradition arrangement and be able to jump back to that setting. But it uses up a switch. Can be implemented with a microswitch which is a better option to maintain the flexibility of having a dual coil push pull.
