Stratocaster Colors – The Reds

Featuring Gombrelli Guitars (GG USA)

WELCOME to FENDER STRAT REDS

A page devoted to Fender Stratocaster RED colors that are standard and not so standard.

Last Update: 2023.05.03

These are really fun but I’ve noticed the Reds are HIGHLY dependent on Lighting and Fading so in some cases I decided to include 2 photos. Some of these were released as  Limited Edition colors, Custom Shop colors or on Squier versions but were not “officially” numbered Fender Colors but were released on Fender Stratocasters.  Some years had a bunch of unusual colors (like the 90s). I keep upgrading this list but it’s fun to see all the variations. Find Yours…

I included pinks because they are technically red white a lot of white.

  • Reds are used with Sunburst colors but I didn’t include them here because there are SOOOO many bursts, someday it will get it own page. I did include PLASMA BURST RED since it was based on red variants.
  • I’m am also going to start putting some years on things, this may be the year nor decade I found the color, in some cases I’ll put the model and add years but it is NOT exhaustive, only a sidenote.
  • Some colors like Fiesta Red are so common that they seem to be always available.

AGED CANDY APPLE

The first place I saw this was on the new Player Plus MIM models. About $1050 in 2023

It’s almost like a more red version of Fiesta Red with slightly more Red and less orange.

AGED CHERRY BURST

This one was pickup modified but the color is correct.

BURGUNDY WINE RED

Very Common Standard Stratocaster Color

Came on 2000’s + MIM models

CANDY APPLE RED

Candy Apple Red can look quite dark depending on the lighting. If you’ve ever seen a chip in one your see there is a metallic layer of silver/white metallic paint under the final coat(s) of Red.

I liked this picture because it doesn’t have the BRIGHT red response of a flash an is close to what it looks like in real life.

This looks similar to CANDY COLA RED but Candy Cola Red is a bit more poppy and metallic.

One of the most common Reds, most loved red, and one with a lot of variance.

CANDY COLA RED

American Standard (2010s) – Beautiful.

CANDY TANGERINE (Almost really an orange)

Lots of Orange in this one. It’s also seen it called “Orange Tangerine”

CHROME RED

I’ve seen this around but not sure which models this came on.

CRIMSON RED

Deluxe Players Strat. They also have a Crimson Red Transparent which is REALLY pretty.

DAKOTA RED

Dakota Red is similar to Fiesta Red just less orange in it.

1963 – Fender Mod Shop also carries this as of 2023.

FIESTA RED

One of the most Popular Reds. The ORIGINAL released Red.

1962, 2000+

FADED FIESTA RED (custom shop)

Just like Fiesta but even more white is and with a tiny hint of yellow. Beautiful color actually.

2018 custom shop

FIRESTORM RED

What a AWESOME color. Found on 90s Fender Deluxe PLUS Stratocaster. Don’t have the exact year

FLASH PINK

Limited Edition HM Stratocaster (monster)

HOT ROD RED

Found in the Mod Shop and an Artist Model.

LIPSTICK RED

I love this color, it a slightly more red and less orange than fiesta and has a sort of reflective coating?? A little darker than Torino Red.

Early 90’s – Came on the Deluxe

MYSTIC RED

A lot like Candy Apple Red but with more flakes and slightly more pure red color.

American Standard early/mid 2010s

METALLIC RED

Not sure, I think this was an MIM FSR at one point.  Great color. A little lighter than the deeper reds, the one below is Satin.

MORACCO RED

Fender Japan Limited Edition

PLASMA RED BURST

Brand new on 2020s Fender American Ultra

RACE RED

Kind of a light colored fiesta Red with less orange and more white.

Never seen this color except on Squier.

RED SATIN

This used to be a regular color with MIM (Made In Mexico) in the 2000’s – Standard Stratocaster

Great color.

SALMON PINK

Salmon Pink is Red, White with some yellow. Mostly a discoloration original Fiesta Red Not on any original Fender Color Chart but released as a custom color.

Not sure what models this came on.

PINKS COMPARED TO FIESTA RED

One thing about these pinks is that lighting makes a HUGE difference in photo’s on the internet.

  • Shell Pink: White and Red
  • Coral Pink:
  • Salmon Pink: White Red Yellow
  • Fiesta: Red with a tiny splash of white.

SHELL PINK

Shell Pink is popular!  It’s a mix of Red and White.

This came on American and MIM models. Pretty much Fender’s stock pink. This one is a bit lighter and looks like it’s a custom shop relic.

CORAL PINK

Mostly a discoloration original Fiesta Red Not on any original Fender Color Chart but released as a custom color.

The one blow is a custom shop relic.

RED SPARKLE (custom shop)

Never seen one, but Fender released a bunch of different sparkles, including Root Beer and an Orange version.

RED BURST (CANDY RED BURST)

Came on Fender Player and others.

RED  BURST BLACK

Custom Shop Fender Stratocaster

RUBY RED METALLIC

Fender Squier 40th Anniversary Gold Edition

TEQUILA SUNRISE

Fender Player Plus Stratocaster

TRANSLUCENT RED (or Trans Red)

Rather like a Wine Red with a see though finish.  This shows up periodically. 1979, Guitar Center editions in late 2002’s.

TORINO RED

Eric Clapton artist model and others. I believe this is in 2023 Mod Shop.

TRANSPARENT CHERRY

Tash Sultana Artist Stratocaster

A real nice transparent red, this model came with a matching headstock.

SUNSET GLOW METALLIC

Custom Shop Stratocaster
