SPANK SWITCH
The SPANK switch is simply a jumper that goes between the Neck and the Bridge pickup. When the connection is made it puts the Neck and Bridge pickups in Parallel (similar to what happens in position 2 and 4 on 5 position switch strats.
The beauty of this baby is that it requires the LEAST amount of mods and can be done to any strat easily.
There are 2 ways to do the switch
- Push Pull (much more complicated because you have to remove wires and rewire)
- Microswitch (just requires a switch and a 2 wires)
WIRING TOOLS
At minimum you’ll need a few tools to get the job done.
- Solder Gun – A pencil style, preferably medium wattage.
- Rosin Core Solder (thin kind is best)
- Small wire clippers
- Wire (Stranded 22 gauge or solid 24 gauge)
If you install a switch you’ll need a drill.
